How to get things done and achieve what you really want

First, unplug and reset.

Disappear from the grid.

Don’t worry about things what you are supposed to be doing, what people might expect from you. Or things that are popular or make you popular for a short moment.

Just forget about all of that.

Leave your life as you know it behind. At least for this experiment. And try this.

Define
What you really want. What your life should be like.

  • Where would you live?
  • What would you be working?
  • And what would you be doing in your ideal life?

Forget about money for a moment. And about obligations, expectations, etc. Forget about all of that.

Tough one?

Well,if you must think about money, then try to define how much cash each month, or if you more the long term thinker (congratulations!!), how much cash each year you would be needing to live this ideal lifestyle of yours.

Then,

Eliminate

  • Get rid of all the noise, the interruptions, the micro-managing.
  • Also of the people that interfere with getting to that Ideal Lifestyle of yours.
  • All the things, habits and people that get in the way.

I know this sounds a little harsh, especially when it comes to people, but think about it for a moment. Is really everybody in your life helping you with what you really want? Exactly, I didn’t think so neither.

Automate

Deal with the few remaining but important tasks.

For all the others?

Find a way to delegate, automate or somewhat outsource.

Things that take up a lot of time (and energy) and where looking at the outcome is sufficient need to be outsourced.

For example,

in your private life you could get a cleaner, order groceries, set up standing orders or get direct debits in place for recurring payments.

For work you could outsource certain types of Research, Accounting, and others tasks that take up a lot of your time and drain your energy.

In my case, I started with accounting. Away with it. Somebody else will know much better how to get this done more efficiently.

I hope you’ll give this a try. Or at least some thought. If you do you will have done something that most people have never tried. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

And remember, this is not a short term fix. This is a process and will take time. And will never be completed. Let us know how you get on.
